The Rat Hole

Catskills was not too busy at this time of the day. So I decided to put on my armor, grab my axe and visit the Covetous Dungeon once again, only this time alone. There was a good chance that I would be able to hunt without being molested by murderers or looter. Meanwhile, I knew the dungeon like my own pocket. I slew lots of Harpies and Corpsers and gathered lots of loot, when I entered a cave that was filled with hundreds of rats. Of course, no fighter is afraid of rats, but if the appear in such numbers, they can be quite dangerous. You will be quickly surrounded by these creatures, not being able to escape as the block your movement. Meanwhile, they will do little damage but in great numbers, which can get even a well-armored fighter killed in no time. I quickly had to slay a couple of them before I was able to move again and leave the room, half-dead. This event gave me the kick for my next adventure!

I sat up slowly, trying to overcome my sleepiness. I blinked as the sunbeams hit my eyes I swung my feet off the small bed and stepped onto the cold, wooden floor of the Trinsic Inn. My muscles ached from my exertion during the last night at Covetous. Finally I stood, stretched, and walked towards the jumbled pile of clothing and armor in the corner of the small room. Donning my battle-worn armor and my green robe, I prepared mentally for the long journey that lay ahead of me. Hopefully the excursion would go smoothly, with none of the complications that had plagued me in the past...

I reached the meeting point at the Royal Bank of Trinsic just in time to meet my friends from the Rangers - a group of tough adventurers from the Guild of Freedom. This day we planned to clean up the Rat Hole, a narrow cleft in the mountains southeast of Yew. KugelBlitz had brought a rune, and after borrowing a wizard hat to Baal and casting the cunning spell on him, Baal was able to recall with us to our destination: The Rat Hole.

As we reached that area, we were attacked by a group of giant ratmen at once. If one had been slain, two new seemed to appear. It was horrifying! Thanks to our good teamwork we managed to clear the place and wipe out all the enemies. I was strangely touched when I heard the ratmen uttering noises in an unknown language while fighting for their lives. Would I one day be able to understand the meaning of these words? Deep in my mind I already had decided to visit the Lyceum soon - the biggest library in Britain.

My thoughts were interrupted when an ettin entered the scene. He attacked me, but with the help of my friends KugelBlitz, Benu and Baal, the heavy two-headed monster crashed to the ground after a few minutes, sighing his last breath. We encountered another army of rats, and we fought and spilled blood until it was all over. Even the orc camps had been taken out, devastated and looted by men.

The place suddenly was peaceful and quiet. After the noise of the battle had vanished through the tree canopies, we could hear the birds singing and the whisper of the leafs. It was time to leave again. The trip had been successful, and there had been no losses in our team. We recalled back to Trinsic and sold our hard-earned loot. We arranged a new meeting, and maybe we would soon visit the deep caves of Covetous again.
