Pirate Conspiracy - The Eight Books

Officially, the pirates didn't know anything about the wherabouts of Hefeustus the treasurer. However, the pirates had kidnapped Hefeustus for a good reason: To question him about the hiding place of the big guild treasure. They were eager to find and steal riches beyond imagination, once Hefeustus had given in and confessed.
Hawkeye Pike had written down the description of the hiding place in an encrypted document. This document was split into eight pieces, which were written down in eight books. Only the person holding all eight books would be able to decrypt the secret message.
Hawkeye Pike decided to hold eight secret emergency sessions. On each meeting, he would not only discuss the current situation with the ongoing war, but also entrust one book to a reliable crew member. The pirates met in the Jolly Roger Inn, where Hawkeye filled his crew in on the location of the secret meeting. They were to go to Serpent's Hold!

They arrived at the southeastern corner of Serpent's Hold island, inside a yard surrounded by high walls. Hawkeye blocked off the entrance with chests. This place would be safe! Some of his crew mentioned that a spy had followed them trough the gate and had hidden. The pirates set the floor on fire to find the intruder, but they didn't succeed. If there really had been a hidden spy, he must have escaped.

Somehow, their enemies must have found out about the meeting place. A short while later they launched a halfhearted attack on the yard, but were outnumbered by the pirates. But then, another wave of attacks washed over the pirates. This time, the landlubbers had brought reinforcements and finally defeated the pirates and chased them away. Trinsac, the holder of the first book, unfortunately lost his book to the intruders. The first part of the secret was in the hands of the enemy! The pirates did not worry about it, as the other seven books were still kept safe...
