Chief Paroxysmus

reen stinking rivers of poisonous substance bubbled beneath Sharkeye Pike, as he searched the remains of Corrosive Slimes, Plague Beasts and Poison Elementals for strange items, which they would need to reach their goal. The group of fearless adventurers had decided to visit the Chief Paroxysmus - the most vile inhabitant of the Palace of Paroxysmus. They had entered this dungeon, located norhwest of Papua, by using an acid-proof rope. Sharkeye was glad not having to use a weapon, but being able to cast spells instead. Some of these creatures here damaged weapons badly with their corrosive blood.

One item was particularly hard to get: The Spleen of the Putrefier. The Putrefier was an acid-green Demon which casts powerful spells and hits its targets hard. They gathered two spleens and continued along the acid river.

Finally they reached a cavern where a cauldron was mounted on top of what looked like a small stone altar. The sickly stench from the rivers was hard to bear, and stepping into the green liquid here would lead to instant death, instead just damaging you. Sharkeye one by one dropped the ingredients into the cauldron: The torso, legs and skull from the Corrosive Slimes, and the spleen of the Putrefier. After that was accomplished, a number of bottles of slimy ointment appeared in the pirate's backpack.

After using the slimy ointment, it was possible to cross the river without taking damage. An iron-barred gate waited on the small isle located in the middle of the acid lake. One by one they crossed, their weapons drawn, their spells ready. They left the pets behind, because the Chief Paroxysmus would use the life energy of such creatures to restore his health.

The creature that awaited them was hard to describe. It was a big fat bald thing without legs and with long arms. It would regularly poison anyone standing near him with lethal poison, and Sharkeye was constantly occupied casting Arch Cure and healing his companions. The Chief would also summon the attacks directly to him, hitting and poisoning them.

The fight lasted a while, when finally the Chief Paroxysmus collapsed. This was the first time Sharkeye had engaged this monster, and he sure would come back for a visit again in the future.
