The Cup of the Three Islands

oday, four seafarers would race against each other. Would anybody manage to beat Hawkeye Pike in a boat race this time? There was a lot of gold to be won. 5,200,000 gold pieces to be exact. The course was determined at short notice, as usual. The Cup of the Three Islands would lead the captains around Nujel'm Island, Ice Island and Moonglow Island. Everyone had to hit the Moonglow Docks one time during the race. As the course passed nothern Moonglow twice, it was up to the participants to decide when they'd head for the docks.

The four captains who had gathered by the Nujel'm Docks were Hawkeye Pike on the "Drunken Corsair", the notorious James on the "Wild Rover II", Katherine Elle on the "HGS Swampswimmer Mk III" and Edward Delinden on the "Delindenism". The ships would sail the course in two different directions, so they were anchored accordingly. Hawkeye counted to three, when suddenly his boat was set on fire as the race started. James had done it again!

Hawkeye had just surrounded the Nujel'm Island and was heading for south Moonglow. He looked at his map and could see small white markers showing him where the other participants were. James was lagging behind and Edward seemed to be lost. Katherine semed to be sailing quite fast on the course.
In the end, Hawkeye Pike arrived at Nujel'm Docks first, about 20 seconds before Katherine Elle. James arrived several minutes later, and Edward Delinden got lost and had been killed by a Water Elemental. Unfortunately, James vanished without paying his minimum bet of 300,000 gold pieces. The 5 million gold coins remained in the pot for the next contest.

Maybe one or two more races would follow, before Hawkeye Pike would invite everybody for a big Cup of Britannia. In this Cup, the prize money (the current pot) will be divided among the top three seafarers.
