Wedding on the Isle of Fire
ome time had passed before Hawkeye and Kitten spoke to one another about the next step: Getting married! It was quite inconvenient for a pirate to take this step, but hell, this wench he liked a lot! When she agreed to his proposal, his heart sank into his sandals. He felt like the king of Britannia, and on the other hand a part of his freedom had just been ripped off him. He shrugged off this annoying feeling and concentrated on preparing the ceremony.
Blimey! This would be a day to remember! Friends had been invited, a Counselor had been called to hold the ceremony. While Kitten was getting ready at her house, Hawkeye Pike had decorated his and left her a message to show his devotion. Then he put on his best clothes and set sails for the Isle of Fire.
There they were, already waiting by the old ruins on the northern part of the secluded island. Kitten looked fantastic, like a gorgeous pirate wench, her golden hair matching her shiny armor. Their friends had prepared seats and decoration most beautifully. Hawkeye took Kitten's hand and they walked towards the altar.
The counselor, all dressed in black, was waiting for them to hold the ceremony. Everybody was silent, only the wind was rustling through the leaves of the jungle trees.
Priest:
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate this thing called
life. Life is not only about plundering and sailing, but about love, and
love is something to be celebrated and shared as well. And so we are here
today, not to make a new beginning, nor to celebrate that which is about
to be, but to celebrate that which already is, and which was, and which we
hope shall be for a very long time.
Hawkeye:
Marriag', we believe, is dat which two people do when dey have ta. Ta say
to da world: Ahoy, look what we've got! And to say to each other: I have
found somethin' special in ye, and I'm willin' ta go thru a lot of trouble,
even pain, ta hang on to. And then ta say back to da world: Blimey, we are
a Package Deal! We are One Rock! Inseparable. Mateys, celebrate wid us!
Kitten:
We come together to celebrate Life, and Love. Life, I've discovered, is
the bearer of da greatest joy, as well as the most terrible sorrow. But da
lesson to be learned thereby is that we don't have to go it alone. Shared
pain is pain lessened; shared joy is joy redoubled. And so we choose to
come together in love, to share da pain and da joy.
Priest:
Is there anything you want to say to one another?
Hawkeye:
Aye! Kitten, ye me love, ye me life. Today is a very special day.
I was sailin' da oceans fer a long time, rough and lonesome, nut thinkin'
much 'bout a wench I could love me whole life. Today I finally recognize
wut I've been missin' all da years before. For today, Kitten, you as my
joy become me trico... err... crown. Thank ye for bein' wut ye are to me. Wid our
future as bright as a ship's hold full o' gold, I will care for ye, honor
and protect ye from all dangers. I'd sail to da end of Britannia for ye,
Kitten, me mermaid, me love.
Kitten:
Hawkeye Pike, I love ya' and I know you love me. I am confident that da
Gods of Britannia have chosen ya' to be my husband. It is my prayer and desire that
you will find in me the helpmeet da Gods designed especially for you, and in
confidence I will submit myself unto your headship as unto our Gods.
Therefore, Hawkeye Pike I pledge to ya' my life as an obedient, faithful
and loving wife. Whither thou goest I will go, whither thou lodgest I will
lodge, and people shall be my people.
Priest:
And so here we stand, on the edge of time, and on the edge of space,
between the sun, and the water, and the earth, and the sky, to join these
two, and proclaim them one life, one heart, and one path.
Hawkeye:
I, Hawkeye, take thee Kitten to me wedded wench, to share me life from dis
day forward, for bett'r or for worse, for richer or poorer, in prison or
in freedom, in sickness and in health, to love, honor, cherish, so long as
love shall last.
Kitten:
I, Kitten, take thee Hawkeye to my wedded husband, to share my life from
this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in prison
or in freedom, in sickness and in health, to love, honor, cherish, so long
as love shall last.
Priest:
A wedding band is the outward symbol of the sacredness of marriage. From
ancient times, the ring's shape, having no beginning and no end, has been
a symbol of eternity like the neverending seas. Thus may your marriage be
filled eternally with both love and mutual respect.
Kitten:
With this ring I thee wed, and with my body I thee honor, and with all my
worldly goods I thee endow. *places ring upon his finger*
Hawkeye:
Wid this ring I thee wed, and wid me body I thee honor, and wid all me
worldly goods I thee endow. *places ring upon her finger*
Priest:
If there is anyone, who has an objection to this marriage, then he may
speak now, or forever remain silent! And now, by the powers invested in me by
the Gods of Britannia, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!
Now you will feel no rain
for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness,
for each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons,
but there is only one life before you.
May your days be good and long in Britannia. May you both live as long as you want to, and want to as long as you live; And when you're done with living, may you be half an hour in heaven before the devil knows you're dead!
Hawkeye:
AHOY! Da sea is ours! Let's celebrate, mateys and wenches!
After a big and long banquette, Kitten and Hawkeye got on their decorated ship and took off for their honeymoon...
