Red Skull Bay Buccaneer Cup

any skilled sailors and captains had gathered in the Jolly Roger Inn of the United Pirates. The day had come to find out who was the best! A big boat race was to be held which would lead the participants around the island of Magnicia, through the Occlo channel to the Occlo docks and back. The attendants all had a terrific nautical skill and were eager to win the prize.

After the rules had been explained they all went and maneuvered their ships into position, lining them up at the shore in the Red Skull Bay, the bows pointing south. Hawkeye Pike counted down, and the race began!

The field was rather close until the ships reached the Occlo channel. Then a sea battle broke lose and rival ships were set on fire. Most of the participants were pirates, one could tell. The channel was jammed for a short moment, but the race could continue.

Approximately one hour later the winning team reached the Red Skull Bay again. The crew of captain Widow won the race with their boat "Waverunner". The ship of the tough pirate crew of Jerijah Herero, the "Luna Rossa", arrived with some delay and made second place. They were followed by Winddrifter on his ship "Silent Gail" anchored in Red Skull Bay. Regnek on "The Outcast" didn't survive the sea battle; he was alone on his boat. The "Eternal Dragon" sailed by the crew of Kilik got totally lost and did not even reach the second check point. Hawkeye found out later that heavy winds drifted the ship on some reefs and the crew got shipwrecked.
The winning crew was handed over the prize, a chest full of items worth at least 20,000 gold coins. The second winner received a potion barrel full of explosions. Everybody was excited about when the next race was to be held.

The Red Skull Bay Buccaneer Cup was over. The winners and all the other participants staggered drunkenly out of the Jolly Roger Inn. Everybody was excited no matter if he had won or lost, or if he had just watched the event. Hawkeye Pike dropped tiredly on a chair by the bar and ordered an ale. He had organized the race and felt relieved that it had been a success.
"I hope I can sail at da next boat race meself" he said, looking over to the pirate Arioch who had been with the winning team. "I'm a pretty gewd captain!"
Admiral Patsy grinned as if she knew different.
"I know da waters like me own pocket" Hawkeye Pike muttered angrily. "I'm da fastest in sailin' thru da Vesper channels!"
Arioch turned to the boasting pirate, teasing him.
"I've liv'd un da seas" he shouted. "Yer only second fastest."
"Nay, first fastest!"
"Second!"
"First!"
"Har, second!"
"FIRST!!"
The quarrel continued for some time and the air between the two pirates was thick and full of ale damp.
Arioch kept on scoffing and laughed at his angry friend. "Second mebbe even thurd!"
Angrily Hawkeye shouted, trying not to fall from his chair: "I bet me old granddad's pegleg dat I am da fastest!"
"I coulda take yer grandads leg frum ye" replied Arioch and laughed.
"Alrite, Arioch! I hereby challenge ye! Da crew will be our witnesses. I will sail against ye thru da Vesper channels! And I gonna win!" After a little thinking Hawkeye realized that there had to be a prize. He asked: "Wut is da bet, Arioch?"
"Whut kin ye affurd ta lose?" Arioch answered.
"We will each bet 3000 gold pieces. Da winner takes it all, 6000 gold coins. and we will let other people place bets too!"
Arioch agreed.
