A Pirate Invasion

The mines around Edinburgh - a small town south of the Wrong dungeon - usually were only visited by some lonely miners. But during the last days strange things were going on in this area. The peace of the town was not only disturbed by the usual brigands camp around the area, but lately strange groups of pirates had shown up, accompanied by big numbers of earth elementals.
Today suddenly a golden earth elemental appeared outside the mines, and headed straightforward to the caves. What was all this about?
The golden earth elemental opened a moongate and vanished through it without a warning. Some of the braver warriors tried to follow through the blue gate, but it was not possible for humans. Instead numerous earth elementals poured out of the moongate, attacking every human being that was around. Few in numbers first, the numbers quickly increased, and soon the fighters were busy staying alive and slaying the threat.
Soon the warriors - among them were members of the United Pirates - were standing between piles of earth elemental corpses, and the moongate vanished as sudden as it had appeared. The threat was eliminated, or that was what the humans thought.
When they left the cave, strange people showed up outside in the woods. At a closer look it was clear that they were pirates, who showed a strange behavior. As soon as they saw fighters approaching they seemed to drink and then attack immediately. Although they washed ashore in large numbers, they were no real danger for the fighters in Edinburgh.
It was a little strange for the United Pirates to slay folks of their own kind, but at least they had to defend their own lives. During the battle they tried to find out the source of this attack, and soon they found it at the nearby shore: A pirate ship had anchored, and again and again pirates appeared on deck, jumped on the shore and attacked.

After the battle was finally ended, a pirate named Budo showed up on the ship and spoke to the warriors. He uttered another warning before he jumped ashore and ran through the woods. Obviously he was looking for someone, for he kept shouting: "Whar are ye matey? Me bucko? We have more gold bucko!" He was looking for a guy named Smithson, but the reason for this quest remained a riddle to the fighters.
After a while Budo ran back to his boat, muttering that he had to report his captain, and then he vanished. Peace returned to the green woods of Edinburgh. For now.
