Hunting Ilshenar Paragons
wo mages, McBykar and Gallahan, decided to go hunting Paragons in Ilshenar. The Paragon creatures living there distinguished themselves by an extraordinary strength and a moving speed equaling a rider on his mount. Thus, hunting on foot was only an option for sucidal adventurers. Paragons also were of golden color and sometimes carried metal treasure chests.
From Luna they traveled by moongate to the Shrine of Valor, from there heading east to the Cyclops Camp. McBykar enjoyed his new 100% lower reagent cost leather armor suit. He now could cast spells without needing reagents. While the suit had cost him a small fortune, he saved a lot of time by not having to shop for reagents anymore. The Cyclops and Ettins were no match to the mages' Energy Vortices. Only a Paragon Titan caused some trouble by casting powerful spells at the intruders.
After slaying dozens of Cyclops they decided to head west in the direction of Terort Skitas. They found a spot to teleport up into the sorcerer building on the mountain and entered the Sorcerer Dungeon from there. A Blood Elemental was quickly slain, but deeper down a Paragon Poison Elemental waited directly by the stairs. McBykar knew that this was a most dangerous and deadly foe from which there was no escape. Not willing to give their lives so easily, the two mages decided to retreat and leave the dungeon.
Very close to the southwest the Bandit Town can be found. It is home to numerous Brigands and Evil Mages. However, Gallahan and McBykar quickly prevailed and occupied the town. Neither were the Bandits any match for the wizardry of the two, nor did they yield any noteworthy loot. So again, they moved on.
A short ride to the east they discovered the famous Memorial to Gwenno next to a small ford leading across the river Pormir Harm. This place was desecrated by a number of undead creatures. McBykar and Gallahan put an end to the evil, while Gallahan was able to restock his reagents from the Lich Lord loot.
As they continued to the south they came across Jukas and some Paragon elementals. Again, the power of an Energy Vortex was the preferred method to slay those creatures.
Soon they reached an old decayed building, once a large and beautiful villa surrounded by a high wall. Today the villa and its high wall lay in ruins and were home to a large number of Ratmen. Especially the Ratman Archers were annoying creatures. Their arrows were quite dangerous.
When they entered the Ratman Villa eliminating the last of the intruders, they found in a small room a stairway leading down into a dark cellar. Curiously and cautiously they proceeded downward.
Nobody knew what kind of contract was made to arrange the subletting of the cellar to a family Evil Mages. Anyway, their contract didn't include unexpected visitors. The two visitors didn't give a rat's arse about the disgruntlement of the Evil Mages and put an end to the cellar party. The Ratman Villa was clean again!
A bit to the south the Ruined Tower lead down into the Ankh Dungeon. McBykar and Gallahan were carrying a lot of loot already, so it was time to return to the bank. They quickly slew some Daemons and Imps before they made their way back to the Valor Moongate and from there to Luna.
Exhausted, smelling of sulphur and loaded with gold the two mages returned to the Luna bank. Neither of them had found a metal treasure chest. This expedition had been a lot of fun despite, and it surely hadn't been their last journey to Ilshenar. McBykar was even able to refund his lower reagent cost suit.
