Challenging the Sleeping Dragon

group of six met by the Isamu-Jima Moongate in Tokuno. They had gathered to explore the Valley of the Sleeping Dragon. This place usually was crowded with numerous monsters, and it was known as an area of champion spawn. McBykar never had challenged one of those champions, so he was excited about this new adventure. His companion Talis Moonbeam was also part of the group.

Soon they reached a valley in the northern part of the Isamu-Jima. Hundreds of Lizardmen and Deathwatch Beetles were lurking through the woods. The six adventurers fought their way through to the center of the valley and reached a strange altar. Red and white skull candles were glowing around the pentagram. After a short time they had slain a large number of monsters.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, many Kappas appeared at the scene, and they were more annoying than the Lizardmen, as their blood was poisonous. To avoid getting poisoned the group was equipped with orange petals. When eaten, they would instantly heal from low and medium level poison for a certain amount of time.

The number of red skulls on the altar had increased during the past half hour. Suddenly, as another skull candle appeared on the altar, a great number of Hiryus and Revenant Lions appeared all around them. Two of his companions fell to those dangerous creatures, and McBykar quickly realized that he would die as well if he wouldn't manage to escape. He cast another series of powerful spells before riding swiftly southward through the dense forest.

They regrouped, got resurrected and approached the spawn more carefully. They managed to slay many Hiryus and Revenant Lions, but not enough to proceed with the campion spawn. The deaths of the fighters also had thrown them back quite a lot. Finally they decided to leave the place as they were too few to advance any further. McBykar discovered that he now wore the title "Challenger of the Sleeping Dragon".
