Bound to the Land

n one of his expeditions to the Blighted Grove McBykar came across a Frightened Dryad. She was standing by one of the roots of the gigantic tree forming the entrance of this underground swamp. When McBykar talked to her, she was asking him if he wanted to go on a quest.

His tasks in the quest were to slay 12 Insande Dryads and 1 Saliva. The Insane Dryads sometimes appeared out of nowhere in the Blighted Grove, when the adventurer moved around in the swamps. However, the place was quite dangerous. Not only was it home to some very evil creatures like the deadly Coil, the Hydra or the Thrasher. Killing the Dryads was also difficult because their beauty was distracting, and when charmed you would be unable to fight or to cast spells for a certain amount of time.

After the first task was fulfilled, McByar had to find a Saliva. The Saliva was a turquoise Harpy-like creature living in a hidden cave inside the Blighted Grove. The Changelings inside the cave proved to be most dangerous.

When finally the Saliva was slain, McBykar returned to the Frightened Dryad and received the Dryad's Curse, which was kind of a key to enter the home of the dangerous Lady Melisande. A group of 6 brave men was quickly put together. They prepared, formed a team, and then used the Dryad's Curse.

The fighters were teleported into a secret part of the Blighted Grove, the home of Lady Melisande. They were instantly attacked by Melisande's minions, some Enslaved Sartyrs. With Energy Fields the mages prevented the Sartyrs to approach the team, while spells were cast at the enemies. Once the Sartyrs were killed, the attacks focused on Lady Melisande.

Spells thundered through the Grove, attack cries of warriors could be heard, and the air was filled with fire, smoke and the screams of Melisande. When one of the fighters fell, he was immediately resurrected by one of the mages waiting in the background. Energy Vortices and summoned creatures were sent out to attack Melisande. Her spells were dangerous and her hits were hard, so it was better to keep a safety distance.

When Melisande's health was low, another group of Sartyrs appeared and had to be defeated. Finally Melisande received the last deadly strike and fell. There was enough loot for everyone in the group. McBykar also could pick up some peerless ingredients for crafting certain artifacts. It had been an exciting and challenging adventure! Mybe McBykar would return to this place one day, to see if Melisande still was haunting the Blighted Grove.
