Beach Fight Tournament

n May 17th 2008, the United Pirates organized another tournament: A beach fight. 10 participants registered and payed the entry fee of 10,000 gold pieces each this added up to 100,000 gpold coins as a prize money for the winner. A lot of spectators had arrived, too. Everyone enjoyed the competition that was held in a predefined area in front of the pirate headquarters, the Jolly Roger Inn. No own equipment was allowed; armor and weapons of GM quality was supplied, to give not-so-rich fighters a chance to prove their abilities. Jewelry, talismans and other items improving the fighting abilities were not allowed either! The participants were encouraged to bring any kind and number of potions, bandages, arrows, darts, bolts and reagents of their choice. Also, any kind of fighting tactics was allowed! The contest was held as a double-elimination tournament. This means, you couldn't win the tournament anymore if you lost TWO duels.
The WINNER of the tournament was CatLord from the Torm's Fury guild. CatLord was so generous and noble to sponsor the prize money to the United Pirates, for future events.

The fight of Mathena vs. Scarst was the most balanced fight of the tournament. It was very entertaining to watch, and it lasted about 6 minutes, before Mathena finally won by a close shave:
