The Vanguard Invasion
pring has come once again to Britannia. Who did not have a chest full of items from previous events somewhere stored in the house, allocating valuable space? Many players have collected items like ophidian weapons, cursed artifacts, ophidian rations, planeswords, plainshields, slippery snake skins and more during the past months, not knowing if they would be of any value one day. The time has finally come to cleanup. At four places around the world those items were collected, in exchange for tickets. The tickets could be redeemed for rewards in a new community collection. The rewards ranged from shirts saying thinks like "I saved the day and all I got was this fancy shirt" over Nocturne Earrings (earrings with night sight ability), Sherry the Mouse Statues (hooked into the town crier system), Snake Skin Boots (with +2 poison resist) to rare Knight's Armor pieces.
A few days after the introduction of spring cleaning, suddenly news about a Shadow invasion in Cove was spreading. The Vanguards attacked Cove, accompanied by various shadow creatures like Brigands, Dark Wisps, Liches, Shadow Iron Elementals, Zombies, Restless Souls, Nightmares, Dark Steeds and others. The blackrock detector of Moonglow, a beacon of hope for the government against the insanity gripping the land, accidentally opened a rift directly to the ethereal void. Nothing could stop the advance of the Shadowlords. Not Kronos, not even the Time Lord himself.
Many tamers gathered in Cove; the invasion was exactly to their taste. Many of the foes did hardly take any damage from melee weapons, and mages were not able to summon creatures in Cove, their spells being almost ineffective against the intruders.
At an hourly intervall monsters were swarming the little town, attacking the brave fighters. The Vanguards, some of them on horseback, some on foot, proved to be the most dangerous enemies.
