Much Ado About 500 Gold Coins
nce again, the enemies of the United Pirates from the Torm Tars and the Purple Guardians of Honor visited the pirate hideout, leaving two pirates lying face down in the sand. It had happened before, and the pirates began to feel a little uneasy about it. They didn't seem to be safe anymore, even on their own ground. The Jolly Roger Inn always had been a safe haven for Britannia's scoundrels and outcasts. To counter this offense, the pirates finally decided to take matters into their own hands. It was time for action!
The pirate life seemed to attract some outlaws, and Hawkeye Pike was able to recruit new members to the crew. Today he wanted to demonstrate to Trinsac and Legolas, who had just joined, the way pirates were handling business in New Haven. Hawkeye Pike, Scarst, Deranigan, Trinsac and Legolas gathered in front of the New Haven Bank, where they demanded a security tax from enemy guilds. This security tax was introduced as the pirates had invaded New Haven a few days ago. It would grant safety to anyone who payed 500 gold pieces. Those who did not pay, would have to fear for their lives and were advised to leave the town.
Soon, the Torms had called for help and New Haven was crowded with fighters from the Torm Tars, the Purple Guardians and the Undead. The pirates hadn't expected to be outnumbered again. Luckily, Murtagh and Red Beard, and later Jachira Deakin arrived, supporting their crew mates. But still, the pirates were fewer in numbers. A discussion had begun, and landlubbers were refusing to pay the security tax.
The situation escalated. Someone, and we are not sure who, began to attack the pirates Deranigan and Trinsac, and then hell broke loose. Pirates and landlubbers were chasing each other through the streets of New Haven, shooting arrows, casting spells, swinging blades. The whole town had turned into a fighting ground, blood and corpses everywhere.
The conflict lasted at least 2 hours, until finally the landlubbers were chased away. The pirates regrouped by the bank, healing their wounds. Maybe, the tide was turning now. The pirates had been suffering serious losses during the past days.
After draining a few bottles of ale, the pirates nailed a note at the door of the New Haven Bank, saying:
The United Pirates
