Smugglers

A stiff breeze blew up from the ocean, whirling up the sand on the Barrier Island off the Trinsic coastline. The Rogues of Trinsic were reliable allies to the Vesper Trading Company. The shipment to Trinsic would go down as planned. The crew entered the "Doubloon" and sailed back to the Swaggers Inn to celebrate their new prospect. A lot of silver coins were waiting for them! Their singing could be heard through the streets of Vesper all through the night.

A couple of days later they anchored by the shore near Britain where a shady merchant was already waiting for them. A pack horse full of wooden crates were quickly handed over, the merchant was paid. Together the pirates carried the crates onto the deck of their boat before they raised anchor and set sails towards Trinsic.

Unfortunately the Duchy of Trinsic was on patrol this evening and caught the smuggling ship before she reached the Barrier Island. Being very suspicious they demanded access to the VTC ship and wanted to control the wares for illegal shipments. There was a lenghty discussion and the Trading Company refused self-confidently, since they had more cannons manned.

The Trinsic soldiers commanded a broadside which was immediately answered by the pirates. The battle had begun! Almost half an hour the boats chased each other and fired their cannons until finally the pirate ship was scuttled and could not move anymore. The Captain of Trinsic had been the better navigator, and these Trinsic landlubbers certainly knew when to fire their cannons. They now could board the pirate ship. But they didn't! They probably were afraid of the pirate crew that outnumbered their soldiers. Arrows were shot, one of the Trinsic landlubbers fell. They sailed off.

This had been a close shave! But despite the bad outcome of the sea battle the shipment was now safe and could be unloaded. They used their dinghy to carry the crates to the shore where they were hidden safely. Now it was time to sail back and celebrate!

Each crew member was receiving their sallary, 15 silver coins, which most of them spent on ale and wenches. It had been a successful night!
