Monster Hunting near Yew
ne day, KugelBlitz and I decided
to travel by moongate to the city of Yew. Rumor had it that the hunting grounds over there were not too crowded, and
thus loot would be more promising than in the vicinity of Trinsic.
During my first weeks in Britannia, I never had traveled too far from the safe walls of Trinsic city. Today, I would
travel for the first time to a region of Britannia that was totally unknown to me. Also, I never had used a moongate before.
Would it really take us to our destination? We stepped into the glowing blue portal, and we had to walk through it several
times before we finally reached Yew. I was excited about this new adventure! We started to head north-east to an area which
was said to be haunted by lots of monsters.
In fact, we only had walked for several minutes and reached a coastline, when we bumped into an Ettin. KugelBlitz attacked him first with a combination of halberd swings and magic fireball spells. When we almost had slain the two-headed giant, an Ogre appeared and attacked us at once. It was the first Ogre I had ever seen! I decided to take over the Ogre, while KugelBlitz was finishing off the Ettin. Each one of us received his share of the loot, then we made a delicious barbecue again from the meat of the monsters.
We headed further north until the forest thinned out, and found a hunting ground that was home to numberous different monsters. Several brave fighters had come here, and some of them even set their tamed bears and wolves on the monsters. Until now, I had no idea that it was possible to tame wild creatures. The Troll we attacked had no chance. Many blades were wielded against this ugly giant and it quickly died. We then hunted a few Mongbats, but they did not prove to be too big a challenge for us, so we decided to head home again.
After a successful day of hunting, we were finally heading back to the Yew moongate in order to reach Trinsic before dusk. We came across the typical giant trees you only can find in the forests around Yew. It was a unique landmark in Britannia! Today had been a day of exciting adventures, good loot and steady skill improvement. My experience extended with each step I was taking in the strange wilderness of Britannia.
