Hunting Alone
oday I had to leave Trinsic
alone. My companions were resting at the Taverns of Trinsic and Yew, so I decided to go hunting all by myself.
I knew it would be very risky to stride through the forests of Yew without company, but it was the best way to improve
my skills and experience. I used the moongates again, and finally reached the dense woods of Yew. Again, I was admiring
the fabulous Yew Trees, when suddenly I heard some grunting sound approaching from the south. It was an Orc!
It immediately attacked me and I fought it as well as I could. My state of health worsened more and mor, so I
decided to utilize my reliable tactics of hitting, running and hiding.
My hiding always surprised the monster, which gave me time to recover. I had learned the hiding skill during my former journeys through Britannia, and it had been hard work to improve the skill. It had taken a while before I had figured out how useful this skill was. After I had eaten and felt a little refreshed ,I attacked the Orc again. It was a long and hard fight, and finally the Orc dropped to the ground and looted the corpse with satisfaction!
The Ogre I ran into at the coastline north of Yew proved to be much tougher than the Orc. I had to hit and run and hit and run for quite a while, before the Ogre was finally weak and tried to escape. But - ha! I followed him and thrust my steel between his ribs, delivering the final blow that made the Ogre collapse with a moaning sigh. I found on the Ogre's corpse over a 100 gold pieces of loot and a leather gorget! This fight sure had been worth my while! I didn't have to share with any companions, so the booty was all mine. Loaded with several hundred gold pieces, my armor and weapon worn and damaged, I headed back to the moongate to travel to my home town Trinsic once again.
My Second Death
Due to the success of my previous adventures I was able to replace my damaged equipment. I acquired a good sword and shield and felt like I harldy had to run from any monster again.
One night in the forest, after having successfully killed two Orcs, I suddenly had to learn that despite all my equipment
and experience, there were powers mightier than I had expected! You can wear the strongest armor and have the sharpest blade,
but when once again Britannia is haunted by time lag, you hardly have a chance resisting the dangers of the wilderness...
I felt great with all the gold and armor of the two Orcs in my backpack, and decided to head towards the moongate of Yew
to store the loot into the safe bank box. Suddenly I tracked a Harpy next to me. A Harpy was no real challenge for me anymore
if I was careful. So I decided to attack the easy prey. Then it happened! Just as I started to swing my sword at the monster,
I froze to the ground, unable to move. I watched how the Harpy was tearing me apart, not being able to prevent it or to defend
myself. Suddenly, my vision went grey and my corpse was lying face down in the shrubs.
I knew I had to get to a healer as quickly as possible, before some stranger would come along, find my body and loot all my hard-earned belongings. Unfortunately I had to walk back to Yew, which was rather far, as there was no wandering healer nearby. I finally found the houses of healing and got resurrected. Immediately I was running back to the place of my misfortune. But when I arrived there I found my body looted. The only thing the thief had left behind was an empty backpack and my useless bedroll. I sank to the ground, frustrated, pondering about the unfairness and the selfishness of other people.
But I would not give up so quickly! One day I would get these looters and take revenge. But first I had to head back to Trinsic and buy some new armor and weapon. I still had around 2000 gold coins left in my bank box. It was not much, but it would be enough to go shopping.
