Looking for a Home

A good friend of mine, Sam, invited me to his home today. He lived at a beach north of the Shrine of Justice, and it was quite a long way to walk from Yew. However, I reached the house without any unforseen incidents. It was a tiny but cosy cottage with a nice view. His furnishing was completed by a few crates for storage and some tailoring equipment, so Sam could always produce some cloth for tailoring from the wool of sheep. Outside we saw a stranger with a Dragon at his tow, and we wondered if he was living here as well.
I liked this house so much that I considered building one for myself. Unfortunately the house prices had recently increased from 11,000 to 22,000 gold pieces. That was a lot of money, and I would have to work hard and slay a lot of monsters to earn it.

I sent out McBykar, who just had become a loyal companion, to go looking for a good real estate that would meet my requirements. Despite the high price, free space for housing was quite rare and most of the good spots were already taken. I liked a waterfront house which was not too far from a town or a moongate, because I still preferred to walk.
So McBykar set off and started his search at Sam's house. Only a short walk to the south, he came to a clearing in the woods. He was so bewitched by the beauty of his place, that he had to take a little break on the colorful flowering meadow. The tranquility was soon disturbed by two Orcs and a Mongbat running towards McBykar. He grabbed his new crossbow and shot several times, but he hadn't trained using that weapon yet. He missed almost every shot and finally was taken down by the spells of the Orish Mage. He hadn't even had time to use his Mark scroll and mark a rune for Mad Biker! He ran through the woods, desperately searching for a healer. He could find one, so he ran south to the Shrine of Justice to get resurrected. When he returned to his corpse, his belongings still lay piled up on the ground, but the monsters had not left. He hid and recovered his items, waiting for the Orcs to disappear. After a while, one of the Orcs were out of sight. McBykar quickly killed the mongbat with a few shots, then he turned against the Orc Lord. After he was slain as well, he grabbed the Mark scroll and an empty rune, and started fizzling away. After ten attempts, the spell finally worked and McBykar could head back to Trinsic. He had just passed his first adventure.
