First Steps in the Lost Land
![]() I entered through the teleporter in the Encyclopedia Magica in Moonglow, which brought me directly to a mage shop called "The Tricks of the Trade" in a tropical town named Papua. Don't forget that you need magic words to use this entrance! These words are described on the signs. |
I admired the beautiful town and the strange looking buildings, as curiosity overcame me and I headed west entering the dense wood of a jungle. After a long walk I reached a pathway which was strangely plastered with stones. What was this place? | ![]() |

Suddenly I heard some strange noises. It was a sound I never had heard before. My hair was standing on end, as I approached carefully. What I saw made my blood freeze. A snake-like creature cast evil spells at some warriors. There had already been losses among the humans, so I joined in and supported the fighters. This creature was an ophidian, and it was terribly evil. |
I just can give you one advise: If you come near the ophidian fortress, you better be very careful! The ophidian warriors swung their halberds with an extraordinary power, so you should keep safe distance. The ophidian mages were even more powerful, casting more and stronger spells as any human mage I have met. | ![]() |

I continued my journey and headed north. The land became more dry, and as I crossed a small river I noticed that I was walking through a desert. Canyons and rocks lined my path. I can tell you, that you have to be good on foot to pass the hordes of orcs and other monsters you will meet there. These damn little creatures which looked like red mongbats - imps - could be very nasty casting spells at you. Strangely I also saw known creatures like gargoyles and harpies with a skin like a rock. These stone creatures were much more powerful than the ones I knew from Britannia. |
More peaceful animals, the ostards,
can also be found here. If you are a good animal tamer, you can tame one and even ride it!
I saw some people riding these funny creatures. An unknown growling sound interrupted my thoughts, and I turned around. |

Behind me stood a tall cyclope,
swinging a mighty hammer above my head. The blow of this monster almost knocked me out. I
ran away and pulled out my heavy crossbow. Keeping a safe distance to the terrible monster
I fired my bolts. But these bolts did hardly any damage, although I almost had reached the
level of grandmaster in the archery skill. I began to cast ebolts on the cyclope, and
after a very long fight it collapsed with a heavy thud on the ground. I soon will explore more of the Lost Land. Especially the ice region had attracted my interest, as it could only be reached by the inaccessible entrance near wrong, or by boat. |
