Adventures in Despise

gor, John LaFoot, Briggs, Alejandra and Hawkeye entered the big black hole in the rocks and found themselves in a small cave with two stairways in it. The right stairway led upwards, and the left one down. Hawkeye Pike had heard about the part of the dungeons upstairs, and that it was full of lizardmen. The pirates decided to descend.
Down there a complex cave system awaited them, full of ettins and earth elementals. The four adventurers did not have problems with slaying them, even if the monsters greatly outnumbered the party. This adventure seemed to be profitable, but not very dangerous.

In the southwest of the cave system they found another stairway, which obviously lead down to new challenges. Numerous ettins guarded this entrance, and as they saw Hawkeye they all suddenly seemed to be very angry at him. The pirate couldn't see anything but big ugly bodies around him swinging their fists or hammers. Fortunately his friends were around to help him, and his healing skill was good enough to cope with the damage he received.
Then they proceeded to the stairs, leaving a pile of ettin corpses behind.

They entered an even more complex cave system, and while exploring it curiously, they came across few trolls and ettins. Then, in an underground swamp in the southwest, they met a monster none of them had seen before: It was a green acid elemental. The pirates grabbed their weapons and jumped on it, stinging it with their blades.

The acid elemental proved to have very high magic skills, for it could cast many dangerous spell in a row. Lightnings, energy bolts, flame strikes and explosions blistered the skins of the adventurers, before the defeated elemental vaporized in a poison-green cloud. It yielded 500 gold pieces and some gems.
Now the party headed east until they reached a big hall with a lake and an island in it. Ogres were lurking through the caves, but they were quickly slain by skillfully wielded weapons.

However, when they reached the narrow bridge which connected the caves tot he isle, an ogre lord discovered them and ran towards them with heavy steps. "Stay together and heal each other" Igor shouted, while the ogre was swinging its mighty fist at him and crushed it down on Igor's shield. The hit took 30 percent of Igor's life energy, and Hawkeye immediately applied some bandages. During the fight Igor and Hawkeye were knocked out by the ogre, but thanks to a mage they were brought back to life to finish the evil monster off.

A lot of time had passed in the dungeon, and when a mage with two tame dragons appeared, the pirates took the opportunity to hitch a moongate travel back to Britain. Exhausted and tired the party disbanded, not without making plans to explore other dungeons in the near future.
When Hawkeye returned to his log cabin by the sea, he enjoyed the safety of his home. He didn't go to sleep before having written down all his adventures and stories in the Ultima Online Travelogues.
