The Incident With the Quiver

t was a sunny afternoon at the United Pirates headquarters, the Jolly Roger Inn. Norrar Swordhand and Hawkeye Pike were just having an ale at the bar, as a landlubber entered the tavern. He was dressed all in green leather armor and wore a strange polar bear headdress. Hawkeye Pike immediately recognized the traveller's quiver, a valuable Quiver of Infinity. He thought that this item would make a good price on the black market.
Hawkeye invited the stranger, who introduced himself as Adam from the Purple Guardians of Honor, for a few ales and then offered him a price of 650 gold pieces for the quiver. Of course he knew that this quiver was worth at least 400 times as much, but that was just his way of making a bargain. As Adam laughed, he hesitated, then offered him 500 instead. But Adam seemed to know that there was something evil behind this offer, and that this was not a game! He refused. Hawkeye's eyes glistened angrily. He then made his final offer: Hawkeye would keep the gold and get the quiver for free. Adam would even be granted a safe departure.

Adam backed away. Before Norrar or Hawkeye could react, he had jumped out of the window and ran off across the beach. Immediately the two pirates drew their weapons and began the pursuit. Sweating and panting they chased Adam through the jungle. Hawkeye grazed him with his dagger and Adam could immediately feel the effect of the poison.

Adam was obviously trying to run to Trinsic, the home of his guild, where he was hoping for help. But he was in severe pain and the venom was slowly infecting his whole body. Somewhere in the middle of the jungle, he collapsed to the ground.
The two pirates were glad to have stopped him. However, their concern was that the PGoH guild would get wind of this incident and take revenge. Thus they decided to make up a story that sounded halfway believable...
