Meddling With Pirate Business

he smell of freshly barbecued ribs was drifting across the sandy beach somewhere west of the Shrine of Honor. A group of pirates was sitting around a campfire in front of their hideout, the Jolly Roger Inn. It was the headquarters of the United Pirates of Catskills. Hawkeye Pike, Mucknog and Benny Redeye were laughing, joking, drinking rum and eating ribs. And soon their crew mates Deranigan and Kyra Hacke, and Black Tom Vane from the Brutal Buccaneers joined them.

After a while, the pirate barbecue was interrupted by some landlubbers from the Purple Guardians of Honor. They appeared to be well-armed and ready for battle, as they started to ask inquisitorial questions about one of their guild mates being killed. Hawkeye Pike instantly remembered the incident with the quiver, where Adam from the PGoH was killed in the jungle. But he decided not to admit anything and blame Adam to be a bilk who had betrayed the bartender.

The mounted knights did not seem to believe him. They openly doubted the truth of his story. Hawkeye Pike was getting impatient. After all, this was their piece of land. The lagoon, the bay and the houses were all pirate property, and landlubbers asking unpleasant questions were not welcome.

Then suddenly, many things were happening at the same time. An explosion potion slipped from Hawkeye's hands and exploded by the feet of the intruders. A bolt from Black Tom's crossbow slipped and hit a landlubber, dismounting him. The once so peaceful barbecue had turned into a battlefield! The Hiryu was set on the pirates poisoned blades were pulled out, swords clashed on shields. A wild chase across the beach had started.

Thanks to the element of surprise, the United Pirates managed to defeat the intruders. Their pirate base had successfully been defended! It would take more than four landlubbers and a Lesser Hiryu to threaten a pirate crew.

There had been losses on the pirate side as well, but most of the crew was still alive. Hawkeye was hoping that in the future more pirates would be on their guard, now that the threat had been unveiled.
