Serpent's Hold Cup

he waves were softly splashing against the rocks of Serpent's Hold island. Several seafarers and onlookers had come to witness another boat race. This time, Hawkeye Pike had picked a fairly easy course for the Cup: The participants would have to sail an "8" around the two islands, starting at the bridge connecting those islands. Who reached the docks first, would win the prize. 1.25 million gold coins had been collected during the previous race, and whoever would outsail the pirate would win it all!

The spectators were standing on the large stone bridge, while Talen NightWolf and Hawkeye Pike prepared their ships. Each one had a passenger on board who'd check if the vessel would take the correct route. The Event Moderators Kasaven and Cernunnos were referees who'd determine the winner. On a signal, the two contestants unfurled the sails and sped through the waves.

To avoid collisions, Talen NightWolf would sail around the southern island first, while Hawkeye Pike would take the route around the northern island. Then they'd both pass the stone bridge again and sail around the opposite island before reaching the destination.

Sailing around those two islands took approximately 6 minutes. Hawkeye Pike's ship arrived at the docks about 5 seconds before Talen's boat. Talen's wager was added to the pot, which now had increased to 1.4 million gold pieces. Hawkeye would now focus on selecting the course for the next race...
