Shadowlord Manifestations
cBykar took a deep breath. The roof of the small hut offered him protection from the hot sun, and a fresh breeze from the Tokuno Sea blew through the small windows, making the heat in The Waste more endurable. The Shadowlords' plan had worked for a while. With the help of their puppet, Lord Casca, the population of Britannia was distracted and kept busy with the search for Treasures of Tokuno. Meanwhile, the three Shadowlords continued with their most urgent business. They were Nosfentor, the female Shadowlord of Cowardice, Faulinei, the Shadowlord of Falsehood, and Astaroth, the Shadowlord of Hatred. They still had to find the last artifact binding their powers, the one they needed to subdue Britannia.
McBykar had heard rumors that the Shadowlords Manifestations sometimes appeared in three locations of Tokuno: The Waste, Mount Sho and Winter Spur. The ancient reptile McBykar had tamed himself several weeks ago snorted impatiently. Suddenly, a tall dark hooded figure appeared directly beside McBykar. But the experienced adventurer was prepared. Carrying a piece of blackrock in his backpack, he shouted the words of power: "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym!" The blast of the Armageddon spell disrupted the silence, sending clouds of fire and energy into the sky and breaking the Shadowlord's shield. McBykar's ancient reptile pet jumped in and began to tear the dark figure apart.
As McBykar had spread the news immediately, a couple of other fighters joined in and the Shadowlord was slain more quickly than he had expected. The Shadowlord finally vanished into a puff of black coulds, leaving his crumbled shell on the ground. McBykar noticed that a strange black robe was placed into his backpack as a reward for being among the top three attackers. It was called a Cloak of Corruption, and he rememberd that he had seen those items before, as he had been slaying the Shadowlords in Moonglow many months ago.
McBykar quickly traveled to Mt. Sho. After a few minutes, actually another Shadowlord appeared at the northern end of the lava pit, and with the help of other fighters this manifestation was quickly defeated. McBykar received another Tokuno artifact and a Cloak of Corruption as a reward.
After a while, news had spread and the three locations were guarded by great numbers of fighters and pets, all waiting to fight for a piece of glory. McBykar counted more than 10 dragons and he knew that the Shadowlord would not last very long. Were these really the Shadowlords? Or just some entities with reduced power?
Three Seers had appeared in Britannia, offering quests to turn the Cloaks of Corruption into something useful:
- The Seer at the entrance of the Yew Empath Abbey turned the Cloak of Corruption and 10 Threads of Life into a Cloak of Life.
- The Seer in front of the Moonglow Lycaeum turned the Cloak of Corruption and 10 Threads of Thought into a Cloak of Power.
- The Seer in Serpent's Hold turned the Cloak of Corruption and 10 Threads of Fate into a Cloak of Death.
McBykar still had some Threads from his last visit in Magincia stored in his house. Strange ghosts had appeared there after Magincia's destruction. Using Spirit Speak on Restless Souls yielded Threads of Life. Exorcising Forgiven Souls yielded Threads of Thought. Killing Corrupted Souls yielded Threads of Fate. He probably had to travel to Magincia again, cause he ran short of some threads. However, he managed to receive a Cloak of Death.
The Cloak of Life offered a hit point bonus and regeneration. The Cloak of Power offered a small bonus on all three stats. And the Cloak of Death offered hit chance, defense chance and spell damage increase.
