Jhelom Island Race

or the third time, Britannia's best navigators had gathered to test their seafaring skills. Hawkeye Pike explained the rules on the Jhelom Docks. They were the same rules as last time, but the course was different. The ship race would lead them around the four islands of Jhelom. The three parties would start at the same time, taking off in different directions. The course was pinned down on sea charts, which had been handed out to the participants.

The boats anchored alongside the docks. There were the vessels of Hawkeye Pike, Katherine Elle and James. Spectators hopped on board to verify that the captains would sail the correct course. On a signal, the race began. Katherine sailed south, the other two sailed north.

From the Jhelom Docks, Hawkeye sailed north around the North Jhelom Island to the Dragon Isle. After surrounding the Dragon Isle, he headed south, around North Jhelom and Jhelom Island, and then sailed his last loop around South Jhelom Island. He was the first to arrive by the docks. Katherine Elle, who had been slowed down by James who rammed her vessel, arrived 15 seconds later. James got lost during the race and arrived several minutes late on foot. Due to the bets that were made, the pot was increased to 2,700,000 gold pieces. If someone would beat Hawkeye Pike in the next race, this person would become a rich seafarer.

After the race, the pirates headed to Tokuno and hunted for artifacts in the Yomotsu Mines, until the corpses of Earth Elementals and Dull Copper Elementals piled up high.
