The Great Sea Battle
t was a sunny afternoon in the southern parts of Britannia. The United Pirates had challenged the seafarers of Britannia to hire a skilled crew and prepare their ships for battle. The Red Skull Bay was the perfect place for a sea battle. There was enough room for about 10 ships to fight, and Hawkeye Pike had blocked the inlet with anchored boats. Once your ship was in those waters, you had to fight until the last man standing.
Unfortunately, apart from the pirate crew, only one other crew showed up. Catskills shure was lazy these days. However, having two crews with five people each was enough to have some fun on the water. The rules were quickly explained, and then the two parties quickly headed to the beach north of the Jolly Roger Inn, where their boats anchored.
The two boats awaited the starting signal in different corners of the bay. Then it began! The pirates raised anchor to search for the landlubber vessel, and they finally found it. The landlubbers were busy blocking the waters around them with magic energy fields and stone walls, preventing the pirates to get them in range for their attacks. But when the fields went down one by one, suddenly all hell broke loose. Explosions were thrown, arrows were shot and ships were set on fire.
The battle was a lot of fun. As one plank had to remain unlocked, boarding an enemy vessel was possible, too. Both parties did their best to defend their boat, navigate and attack the enemy at the same time. Spells thundered across the water and smoke drifted towards the beach. It looked like the whole bay was burning.
Occasional Water Elementals that lived in the bay spiced up the battle a bit. When the smoke lifted after a total of 3 battles, they gathered their belongings and returned to the Jolly Roger Inn for a few ales. Now all they had to do is find a way to motivate more people to participate in the next sea battle.
