Tangled Adventure

he dark gate on the beach of the Isle of Fire stared at Sharkeye Pike like a hollow giant black eye of a skull. Sharkeye pulled the spider slayer spellbook out of his backpack and tucked it under his arm. Then he tightened the strings of his Ostard and rode down into the Underworld Dungeon. Quickly he passed through the corridors of this unpleasant place, heading towards Navrey's Lair. It was early in the morning and not a single adventurer could be seen. The pirate caught a quick glance of the Font of Fortune and slipped past the giant Sentinel Spider, before he jumped down the black hole in the ground. Immediately he saw the gigantic ugly beast, Navrey Night-Eyes. Sharkeye noticed that he was the only person in this cave. Good! That's what he wanted. He quickly cast a couple of protective spellweaving spells and engaged the spider.

Fighting Navrey Night-Eyes proved to be a most difficult and dangerous task. Especially while she was still healthy, she walked quite fast. Also, she had the extremely annoying habit to throw gluey webs at him. While he was struggling to escape, not being able to protect himself, she was approaching and stabbing him with her poisonous sting. The goal was to anticipate the web-throwing and cast protective spells just a moment before the web-attack, so he would survive the stings of Navrey while being helplessly trapped in her webs. Two times he used Gift of Life to self-resurrect, but when he had figured everything out, he usually got away with a few bruises and scratches.

Sharkeye also knew about a puzzle down here that would trigger a deadly trap. When solving the puzzle, an avalanche of rocks would fall from the cave ceiling, raining down on Navrey and damaging the ugly spider. When her state of health had worsened, she got slower and thus less dangerous. Now it was only a matter of time! Pike cast fireball after fireball at the six-legged beast with the ugly fat belly until his gloves began to smoke.

When Navrey was almost dead, she began to heal herself. It was time for the finishing spell! Word of Death was its name, and Sharkeye Pike had to cast it about 10 times before Navrey finally collapsed.

Proudly he looked down at the gigantic corpse. He wouldn't have expected that he would have really been able to slay this beast all by himself. It had taken him about 30 minutes to finish this task, but he had survived. Time to head back to his home at the Red Skull Bay!

When he arrived in the Jolly Roger Inn, he looked through his backpack and found a strange looking apron in it. "Tangle" was the name stitched to it. Blimey! This must be the valuable magic item he had gotten as a reward for slaying Navrey Night-Eyes! Maybe this apron would make his life as a spellcaster a little bit easier.
