The Umbra Invasion

The prospect for free food and beverages had lured Hawkeye Pike to the throne room, where Queen Dawn announced to the crowd that a big gala had been prepared in Umbra, where the Rolyal Britannian Army would hold speeches and collect charitable donations. Since he had no gold to donate, the pirate Hawkeye had come for celebrating only. For free ale, he would even endure the longest speeches.

Indeed, speeches were held, and they were predictably long and boring. But fortunately abundant ale and wine was served, so Pike soon was singing, hiccuping and having fun, while the landlubbers juggled with words and sentences until the crowd got dizzy.

Suddenly, the jolly mood seemed to be sucked out of the party folk and it became silent. An abhorred apparition appeared in the form of a blood-red hooded figure, threatening the attendant crowd. It was a Blood Guard! It seemed that Queen Dawn was a magnet for trouble. Hawkeye Pike had the apprehension of battle, an instinct that rarely failed him, even if he was drunk. He loosened the kryss sticking in his belt and flexed his muscles.

Then everything happened quite fast. A horde of undead creatures like they lived in the Bedlam Dungeon washed over the crowd and killed many of the guests. This was exactly the moment when the pirate seized the opportunity to overwhelm a Royal Britannian Guard from behind and steal parts of his valuable armor. The guard probably thought that the Undead had knocked him out. Nobody would ever know what had happened.

The battle raged for over an hour, as more and more Undead followed and killed many of the brave warriors. The red carped that had been lain out from the Umbra Moongate to the party hall was drenched in blood.

When all the fighting was over, indeed Bedlam was identified as the source of all evil. The entrance to Bedlam was blocked by some magic fire though, so Hawkeye Pike could not investigate further. Since the party was crashed so violently, the pirate decided to head back home where Andrew the Barkeep would serve him the best ale and no Undead would ever disturb him.
