Corgul the Soulbinder
hen Sharkeye Pike returned from Covetous, his friends were prepared. Sharkeye had just risked his life and sacrificed a world map and a treasure map at the strange altar in level 2 of Covetous dungeon, which had been more dangerous than it sounded. Because as soon as the gifts were consumed by the altar, Sharkeye's health was at minimum and a thrown pebble could have killed him. Not to mention the overzealous Gazers hanging out in the area. But he had returned safely with a map that would lead them to the Island of the Soulbinder.
This island was not so easy to find, because whenever you tried to find Corgul, the island would be at a different place. The strange map was handed to the tillerman and the journey began. After sailing for a while, the sea became suddenly stormy and out of nowhere a strange unknown island appeared in front of them. This must be the place! Tensely the adventurers watched the shore coming nearer.
When the ship anchored by the beach, a large number of brigands, pirates and soulbound beings approached and attacked them. Quickly they jumped off the ship to engage the enemy. Walking along the shore the party defeated all humanoid enemies, but avoiding the center of the island. Now it was time to say hello to Corgul the Soulbinder!
Corgul was a horrible looking gleaming-black giant. As soon as he spotted the intruders, he went for them. Weapons clashed, spells thundered and companions fled or died. This being seemed invincible! Corgul called for help once, and another horde of pirates and brigands appeared to finish of the rest of the adventurers. But they fought bravely until they had killed the reinforcements of the soulbinder. A necromancer cast a spell on Corgul, and now the attacks seemed to be more efficient. Corgul sent out gigantic blasts of fire and smoke, caused confusion and pain, but the group prevailed.
After a long fight Corgul's health seemed to dwindle slowly. Nobody knew what would happen next, and everyone was busy attacking and healing.
After an hour of strenuous combat, Corgul finally collapsed and died. The party had just distributed the loot when they heard a deep grumbling sound. The ground was shaking. The island was sinking! Quickly they ran back to the ship, climbed on board and sailed away before this island would pull them down into the depth of the ocean... Next time we'll be better prepared, Soulbinder!
