Engaging the Deadly Lady Melisande

t was by pure accident Pete Ninefinger ran into a couple of well-equipped adventurers who were about to enter the Blighted Grove. He quickly asked if he could join them, as he had never been to this dungeon before. They agreed, invited him into their party and provided some kind of gate they had gained through a quest. There wasn't much time to ask, so Pete just followed them into the dungeon.

Pete was glad that he hadn't been the first person to enter. One had already died while the others tried to keep away some strange and very dangerous creatures by casting Energy Fields.

Then he suddenly saw her! Lady Melisande herself, shouting "Snap! Pop! Crack! The lovely sounds of your tearing flesh!" Then her mad laughter echoed through the grove while her minions killed some of our brave fighters. Pete was busy resurrecting the victims and keeping out of trouble.

After a very long battle, many Poison Fields and Energy Vortices, Lady Melisande was finally slain. Pete had never seen a tougher creature before. He had jumped in every now and then, backstabbing Lady Melisande and giving her some good blows, but he hardly caused any damage. The Lady's corpse was filled with dozends of items. As Pete did not deal very much damage, he just scanned what his fellow adventurers left behind, which was even more than 3 people could have carried. He found a useful magic ring, a bracelet and one or two nice magic weapons and armor pieces. Although he was probably the weakest person on the team, he was able to support them by resurrecting the fallen, and he had a lot of fun.
