Dangerous Creatures
group of pirates had gathered at the Entrance of the Abyss Dungeon. Dedigan, Raven Gustare, Hook and Sharkeye Pike prepared themselves for one of the biggest challenges of all known dungeons: The Slasher of Veils. Sharkeye had seen this extremely dangerous creature before, and he knew there would be casualties. They shook off their doubts and entered nevertheless. When they reached the center of the Abyss, they found the Slasher of Veils in the Chamber of Virtues. A couple of other fighters joined them, and the battle began.
Sharkeye was surprised that the Slasher had come up with new tricks. All of a sudden, all fighters would freeze to the ground, while meteors were falling from the sky, damaging every person in the vicinity. This lasted about 15 seconds. Those who survived that meteor storm immediately ran off and healed themselves, and resurrected the fallen. On the ground they found mystical rocks lying around. Sharkeye Pike picked one up and hauled it onto the Slasher, which damaged him a lot. The demon immediately answered with his dreaded fire attack, and the pirate escaped with only 5% of his health left. For any person who wore armor with low fire resistance or was already damaged, this would have meant instant death. The battle lasted about 30 minutes, before the Slasher of Veils finally collapsed and died. Kane found the rare Claw of the Slasher of Veils in the corpse, which would make a nice souvenir for his home.
The next day, Grol Darkeye, Kane and Hawkeye Pike decided to trace the Dreadhorn, a dangerous peerless creature living on a secluded island in the Twisted Weald. This was particularly challenging for Hawkeye Pike, as due to his negative karma, all the Pixies who lived near the entrance area would immediately attack him. After Kane got the permission to enter the Twisted Weald from some elf in Heartwood, they took the moongate to Ilshenar Spirituality and headed west towards the Mushroom Caves. In the cave they found the teleporter that took them into the Twisted Weald. Hawkeye entered first. As soon as he appeared in the beautiful yet dangerous gardens, all Pixies started to cast spells at him. The pirate quickly threw a confusion blast potion, which distracted those little beasts, and ran towards the sandy passage. Right there, the next challenge awaited him: a paragon Changeling! The quick sand slowed him down a lot, and he immediately applied bandages, while the Changeling followed him and caught up. On his way through the passage he managed to pick up a Thorny Briar. At least he made it to the end of the quicksand before he kicked the bucket. His friends followed and were able to destroy the Changeling and resurrect Hawkeye Pike.
Now they'd have to gather the required keys from several creatures that lived in this underground valley. The Thorny Briar they already had. Together with Kane, Hawkeye found the hidden cave by the end of the quicksand passage, where they slew the wolf Gnaw and looted his Fang from him. Then they visite the spiders Sabrix and Lissith. Thanks to the spider slayer kryss, Hawkeye could take them down easily. They found two more keys.
After defeating the dangerous Changeling Irk - which was also difficult because Irk was immune to physical damage - the group of three made it to the small altar in the southern part of the valley. Grol dropped the keys into the small statue, and the party was allowed to enter the island of the Dreadhorn...
Thanks to a very coordinated healing strategy, taking down the Dreadhorn proved to be not too difficult. The fight lasted a while, and the three managed to keep each other alive pretty well. When they finally defeated the Dreadhorn, they grabbed their loot and left the island via a small ferry boat.
Their next adventure took the pirates into the Palace of Paroxysmus in the Lost Lands. From one of his last adventures, the pirate knew what to do. Hawkeye Pike had prepared acid proof rope for every party member, so they could enter the dungeon. They successfully gathered three different body parts from corrosive slimes, although it took them a while to find them.
Then came the difficult task. They had to find the Putrefier, a green Demon in the southwestern part of the dungeon. They grabbed their demon slayers and prepared. The beast proved to be quite dangerous. But thanks to good team work, the Putrefier finally could be brought down. They picked up the spleen, which was the last key, and left.
The group continued eastward along the acid river, past several dangerous Balrons and Succubi, until they reached the big cave where the cauldron was located. Hawkeye cooked all the ingredients into some ointment, which would protect them from the acid as they crossed the river to the island of the Chief Paroxysmus.
As only one mage was present to heal and cure them, the fight lasted longer than an hour. Crosshealing just wasn't enough, as the chief dealt about 80 poison damage with his special attack, even to fighters with maximum poison resistance. With lower poison resistance, this would have been suicide. Combined with inflicting lethal poison to every human in the vicinity, this was a deadly combination, even for the most deft healer.
Before calling it a night, McBykar lead his dragon pet down into Navrey's Lair. The place was crowded with adventurers these days, probably because some new artifacts could be found on Navrey's corpse in rare occasions. While McBykar was tied to the dungeon wall by a web the damn Navrey had thrown at him, he watched his pet doing the work and the group fighting the giant spider. Some people spent 10 hours a day down in this cave. For one item they may not even get. He yawned. It was time to go home. But first he had to free himself from these sticky webs...
